18th Century French Yellow Glazed Biot Pot

An exceptional 18th-century French Biot pot featuring a luminous yellow with hints of green glaze and remarkable timeworn patina. Originally used in the south of France for storing olive oil and other provisions, these vessels are celebrated today for their sculptural presence and centuries-old craftsmanship. A biot pot is a traditional, hand-thrown Provencal terracotta vessel from the village of Biot in Southern France.Their thick walls and glazed interiors made them durable and resistant, while their sculptural form has made them highly sought after in today’s interiors.  Today, 18th century Biot pots are prized for their warm patina, historic craftsmanship, and ability to bring authentic European character to both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The generous scale and beautifully layered glazing make this example especially striking. Whether styled as a statement vase, placed on a console, or displayed on the floor as a sculptural object, it brings depth, warmth, and history to an interior.
